| When
you make the commitment for your school library media center
to participate in SUNLINK e-ILL, a small envelope icon
will appear next to your school name in the holdings. When
you complete a SUNLINK search and look at the record for the
item you want, check the holding statements at the bottom
of the page.
If
one (or more) of the holdings has the little envelope icon
and you are a SUNLINK e-ILL school, you can send an interlibrary
loan request to another e-ILL school by email using the built-in
ILL generator.
To generate an email ILL request:
1.
Click on the "Request This Item (ILL)" button
to the left of the record for the item you want to borrow.

2. Enter your name and password. The SUNLINK Project office
will send this information to you when your e-ILL account
is activated.

3.
Often more than one e-ILL school has the material you need.
You will be asked to choose which school should receive
this request. Note: the @ sign preceding a school's name
indicates an active e-ILL account.

(If
your first choice replies that the material is not available,
you can send an e-ILL request to another school at a later
time.)
4. Although some fields are automatically filled in, there
are others that can be filled in. You can use the message
field to enter a note such as: "if we can get this
in the next two weeks, we can return it overnight"
or "please fax page 20 to me at this number" or
even a brief "thank you!"

5. When you are ready and all the fields are complete, print
a copy for your records and click on Submit. The request
will be emailed immediately to the school that holds the
item. You will see a confirmation that the message has been
sent.

6.
You can continue submitting e-ILL requests by choosing "New
Search." This will allow you to search for items and
make additional interlibrary loan requests without having
to re-enter your name and password.

Be
sure to "terminate" your ILL session when you are
done. This will ensure that no one accesses the email ILL
feature after you leave the computer. |
