New Look

We have changed the SUNLINK "front page" by adding a search box to allow you to do a fast "Google-like" quick search on that front page. You can also click on the "advanced search" button on the front page to move to the page that allows you to customize your searches according to location, fields, format, and reading grade/interest levels.

The menus on the portal pages for students, media specialists, parents, teachers, and principals have also changed. To accommodate the lengthy list of options, the menu headers now "collapse" so you can click on an individual header to open (or close) that category without scrolling down the screen.

We hope you like these changes that have resulted from user suggestions!

New Feature: Interlibrary Loan Printable Form

For those media specialists who fax or phone interlibrary loan requests, this task has been made a lot simpler with SUNLINK's new "Request This Item" button. Here's how it works:

  1. Click on the "Request This Item (ILL)" button.
  2. Enter your name and password (Your name is your school name code as it appears in the SUNLINK location menu. The password is SUNLINK). Click on the "Submit" button.
  3. Select a location from which to borrow the item. Click on the "Submit" button to continue.
  4. A form will appear which includes the title of the item, as well as the borrower's and lender's information! You can enter a "need by" date or any additional information.
  5. Click on the print button. Then fax your request form or refer to the form when making your request over the phone.

(TIP: If you are not using your automation system to track ILL circulations, consider saving your printable ILL forms and placing them in a folder. Make sure you write the name of the person who requested the book on the form before filing. This method also makes for an easier way to keep track of your SUNLINK ILL totals.)

Note: There are a few minor changes for those schools that have e-ILL accounts.

  • The "eILL" button has been replaced with the "Request This Item (ILL)" button.
  • The "select the location to borrow the item from" will identify e-ILL schools in the listing with an @ sign preceding the school's name. The SUNLINK Interlibrary Loan Request (Email) form now contains the email addresses for both the borrower and lender.
  • Click on the submit button and your request will be sent—just like before.

Online School Applications

If you are in a school that does not have its full collection included in the SUNLINK database, remember that there is a quick and easy online application process! Find information at:
http://www.sunlink.ucf.edu/faq/print.html

If you are (or will be) moving to a newly constructed school and are (or will be) purchasing an initial library media collection, you can simply fill out the SUNLINK online form now to have book vendors transfer that new collection data to SUNLINK at no cost (or work!) for you or your school! Find the form at:
