| ILL
Statistics Due! |
| Please
fax (or mail if you prefer) your 2005-2006 Interlibrary
Loan (ILL) statistics by the June 1 deadline! Each SUNLINK
school was recently mailed a form to fill in these numbers
and return to us.
Why
do we ask for this information? Because part of the
SUNLINK grant requires us to collect this data. The
data is intended to measure the overall use of K-12
ILL in Florida public schools, so please send us all
your ILL actions regardless of whether or not you actually
"sent" the request using the SUNLINK ILL process.
SUNLINK is the only mechanism in place in the state
to collect overall ILL statistics. Please send before
the due date!
If
you've already sent this form back to us by fax or post,
thank you! There is no need to send it a second time.
If
you've misplaced the form, you can download one from
http://www.sunlink.ucf.edu/publications/forms.html,
just be sure to fill in your school name and district.
(You'd be surprised how many schools have the same or
very similar names, so please make sure the complete
school name and district are filled in.) |

Top 500 |
Have you ever wondered what the most popular books are
in Florida K-12 schools? Now SUNLINK is able to give
you information on the top 500 titles in our database!
You can browse the top 500 by ranking (#1 to #500),
or author name, or title. You can also do a keyword
search on an author or title to see if it is included
in the top 500. Colorful book jacket covers are also
included in the listing so you can "see" the
book. And there is a link directly to the SUNLINK database
so you can find the book too.
Visit
this colorful, informative, and just plain fun site
at:
http://www.sunlink.ucf.edu/top500/default.html. |

| eStore |
While
you are winding down this school year, we know many
of you are already gearing up for 2006-2007 -- at least
in planning.
Why
not be prepared to start the new school year with a
new promotional SUNLINK bookmark? You probably have
distributed many of the familiar bright red SUNLINK
bookmarks. We now have a new design and a new color:
yellow! It is bright, it is fun, it targets students
(as well as teachers, parents, and principals), and
it is free! Visit the SUNLINK eStore and stock up on
bookmarks as well as other promotional and Interlibrary
Loan (ILL) supplies. Go to:
http://www.sunlink.ucf.edu/estore/. |

| Age
of Collection |
We will be working over the summer to be able to provide
you with your updated "age of collection"
figures and graphs. Expect to see the new data by August
1, 2006! That is also the projected date for the release
of the newly updated SUNLINK database. Watch our "front
page" for the new version (and age of collection)
release announcement. |
|
|
| Coming
Soon... |
Along
with the August 1 updating of the database and age of
collection, we will have some other new (and improved)
features for you:
-
More digital images from the Florida Memory Collection
-
New! Video-on-Demand from Annenberg/CPB!!! (Over 1500
cataloged records with links to those videos included.)
More on this later, but we think you will find this
a valuable addition to your collection and your teachers’
professional development.
-
Even more educational web sites will be added
-
More schools and more collections and automatic transfers
from your purchases will be included in this major
update

| Summer
Break |
We
also hope that this summer IS a break in your busy schedule!
Relax, recharge, read for pleasure, and make plans (maybe
while swinging in a hammock) to come back ready to go
for the 2006-2007 school year! Here in the SUNLINK office
we will be working over the summer to get the new database
ready for you, but we will take a summer break from
sending out this newsletter for the months of June,
July, and August. Our next issue will be in September.
Have
a great summer! "See" you in September!! |
