SUNLINK Weed of the Month

How to Feed and Weed Your Collection | Weeding Guidelines

Things We've Dug Up While Weeding | Reader Comments

flower and butterflyHello From Rochester!
SUNLINK is great! Your lists of suggested titles for weeding and feeding are a very helpful resource. I'm in a middle school with a collection of about 14,000 titles and I'm weeding vigorously this year so this little discovery was timely. I'm looking forward to whatever you may add to your web site, which, by the way, was mentioned at a meeting of all the school librarians in my school district. THANK YOU.

Thank you for always sharing this information with LM_NET. Weed of the Month has been one of my goals for this school term and I have found the SUNLINK site an invaluable starting point.

I just wanted to let you know what a terrific resource SUNLINK is for me. I appreciate Weed of the Month and plan to use it with the 12 elementary library aides in our district (no certified librarian at any other elementaries). I do a newsletter and inservices for them, but don't have the time to do everything I want to, so your website is helping some rural New Mexico librarians do a better job!

dragonflyGreat site - thanks - weeding dinosaurs!! and non existent European countries! Needed information about Yugoslavia, etc. that was provided. In fact, I weeded this summer and wasn't sure about Yugoslavia. Have kept a Children's Press book in back since this summer because I just wasn't sure. Now all I need to find out is the boundaries of the "new" Yugoslavia and I can toss the old book with a clear conscience. And the info about Africa - great! I have the "Camera on an Ethiopian Boy" book, so I'll take a look at that one Monday. The suggested titles to replace those weeded will be so helpful too. I just recently bought Lerner's series on the new states that were the USSR, so having a list is a great help. So many sections of our library were heavily weeded last summer that we have entire sections of empty shelves! Using the fine tuning suggestions from you all in Florida will help me weed some more.

Hi, I've been using your site for a while, and I thought it was about time that I wrote to thank you for making it available through the web.

I use SUNLINK most for finding book annotations. I do collections and cataloguing at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. In our cataloguing, we always include an annotation because we're a closed stack library, and we need to give our users some idea of what a book is about (we send books post-free through the mail). We get annotations from other sources (we purchase talking books and braille from the Library of Congress, among others) or I write them myself. However, I don't always have a print copy handy, and that's where SUNLINK comes in handy.

jar of flowersIt's a great-looking, well-organized site, and it's easy to use. Great work!

I just wanted to THANK you for putting WEED OF THE MONTH up on the web. It has helped me greatly with those professionals at my school that just don't understand why a library has to get rid of any book at all.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
